Historical documents dating back to the early1600s attest to the existence of Masseria Le Fabricheas an agricultural production centre and summer residence for the noble families who owned it. The name derives from the Latin “fabrica”, referring to the art of making and producing. The winery was established in the late 1990s; then, in2020,Rinaldo Del Bonoacquired the property.
Overlooking the Ionian Sea and set at the foot of the Murge Tarantine, Masseria Le Fabriche stands suspendedbetween land, sea and ancient silences.
80 hectares of ancient olive trees, 15 hectares of Mediterranean woodland and 25 hectares of vineyardscombine to create a unique ecosystem, where nature and human expertise coexist. And the 17th-century white-stone Masseria farmhouse is the very heart of the wine-making venture founded in the Salento village ofMaruggiothanks to the friendship betweenRinaldo del Bonoand the oenologistMattia Vezzola. Their partnership is based on shared cultural values and on their desire to hand on to future generations the legacy of a unique place through a unique label,MarrubiuM, the embodiment of the millennia-old vocation of the lands of Upper Salento.
Behind the farmstead rises “la Collina”, the Hill, offering a sensory journey to rediscover the characteristically Mediterranean scrub through a selection of native plant species. Guests are welcome to explore paths and immersive areas where they may learn about the various botanical species. Indeed, the space serves as a small nature reserve that captures the essence of the local landscape.
Biodiversity
Every decision made in the vineyard and in the winery is guided by a respect for the estate’s natural balance. The soil, plants, microfauna and climate interact within a thriving ecosystem, which is preserved and nurtured through sustainable practices.
The Masseria Le Fabriche estate covers over120 hectares: 80 hectares of ancient olive groves, 15 hectares of Mediterranean woodland and 25 hectares of vineyards, endowing the grapes with the essence and identity of this unique territory. MarrubiuM is an authentic expression of the richness and harmony of its place of origin: the calcareous-clay soils, the constant breeze and the proximity to the sea all contribute to the complex organoleptic profile of this wine.
